Ah, and of course Pugh did not optimize my data structure because he never saw it. He just invented something really similar. And, BTW, the mathematical concept of integration was independantly "invented" (as far as the term "invention" can be applied to mathematical concepts at all) by Isaac Newton and Gottfried Wilhelm Libnitz too. (And I would never dare to compare myself to anyone of these three... )
I did never question that there surely is a vast lot of funny smilies out there on the net. I was just wondering how you could put it into this forum in a way that I did't even see some kind of link when I quote it into my message. I think the software you pointed to is the answer, but it's still a mystery to me how it might do that.
And * is really a valid character in a domain name!?
I don't even dare to think about how many hits a Google search for the single word "smiley" would give me...
At least I'll keep that links you posted in mind for future usage...
so the reason you couldnt have a say is that you never published it ,that made me think that would be a nice excuse to have all of your works open sourced so this misfortune wont happen again
its no big surprise is equal to

amd put it between image tag , [img] and [/img] here it is :

and i think the reason you couldnt see the links when quoting , is due to the forum's setting itself not the app im using .

Nice idea, that open source thing. Unfortunately I could not have done that in this particular case because the rights on that app were owned by the company I worked for these days. And the app wasn't even published in some binary form, it was for in-house use. (But maybe I could have negotiated about the data structure itself, if I had realised that it had any potential. They never made use of app internals like that anyway.)
For the same reasons, BTW, authors of conventional paper books are encouraged to send a copy of their own manuscript in a closed envelope to themselves via snail mail and never open it unless that is required for some legal reasons. (Interesting procedure, as it works without publishing.) Maybe the equivalent of this may be done with a diskette or CD-ROM nowadays. (And maybe with algorithms and data structures instead of manuscripts too? )
Put the smiley's URL between img tags... That simple...
