Working with SourceSafe
Is there any way to make my applications that I build check in/out, get, or just generally work with SourceSafe. My goal is to make my program handle working with SourceSafe like VB does. I've been doing it by creating a batch file with command line SS commands and then looping until the batchfile is done running, but this is ineffecient and forces all file names to be dos compatable. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.
thanks
Tom

Re: Working with SourceSafe
Hi
I seem to remember Visual Source Safe having an exposed COM object model that you can work with using VB (CreateObject / Setting References etc) - Check the VB Books-On-Line that came with VB - otherwise I'll check when I get into work tomorrow.

Re: Couldn't Find Any Info In the Online Books
Hi Thomas
I couldn't get my Books-on-line CD working today - I'll have to get another copy from one of the other developers,
but
I did find a reference to some sample programs written in VB at
http://msdn.microsoft.com/ssafe/downloads/samples.asp
These may help you find your way through the object model (I remember looking at it ages ago in V4 (i think) - it did look like pretty straightforward stuff.

Re: Working with SourceSafe
I think I saw this post a bit late.
Working with Visual Source Safe Is a necessary evil. Instead of going to DOS and Checking in and checking out from VB you can select the relevant files from Visual Source Safe (/Program Files/Microsoft Visual Studio/Visual Source Safe 6.00 ). This is definitely faster and better.
