SQL Server 7
I have a Windows 95 laptop and have just installed SQL Server 7.0 the desktop edition. For some reason when I take the disc out I can't connect to my LAPTOP server (LAPTOP is the name of my registered server) it times out. Certainly I should not have to be connected to my network that defeats my purpose I want to use it as a standalone. Please offer any suggestions.

Re: SQL Server 7
I didn't know it is possible to install SQL Server on 9x platform.
I thought server can be installed only on NT/2000 server.
Maybe I'm wrong...

Re: SQL Server 7
That was what my co-workers were thinking. However, I figured it out. Under Books Online Windows 95/98 Support it talks about loading the desktop edition on a 95 pc it does have a few limitations, but it is possible. I finally figured what my problem was though. I had to go under Edit SQL Server Registration and assign a password I had the login and password both set to null as soon as I added a login I was able to use my laptop as a server without being connected to the network. Thank you for your help and have a nice weekend. Tracy
