Remote Automation or the likes
I need to run a program on a networked computer from my VB application, just something real simple – executing a command-line parameter and that’s it. I’m not sure how to go about doing this though, can someone tell what the best method would be, be it remote automation, DCOM, or something of the likes? Thanks.

Re: Remote Automation or the likes
if this program that you need to run is on the network drive you can use Shell command to run it
r = Shell("f:\abc.exe")
if this program is on the local drive then you can use winsock

Re: Remote Automation or the likes
Thanks, but I guess I failed to mention that I need the app to run on the HOST computer not the computer that's executing the program, which is why I'm talking about COM and things a bit more advanced than shell. Any input on that? Thanks!

Re: Remote Automation or the likes
I think it is possible using RPC calls with sockets or named pipes. But that needs a program to be running on the HOST machine.
Please let me know if you find any othe solution for this.
