    Talking Who is Uncle Sam?!

No no...don't gimme crap. I know Uncle Sam isn't Sam Hobbs. Uncle Sam must be some president in the old ages in America, while our Sam Hobbs is a programmer in CA, USA.

Just who is Uncle Sam? This figure always appear in newspaper and articles and is always shown with white hair, a tall hat(with US-flag designs) and a suit with US-flag designs too.(the stars, the reds, the whites, the stripes and the blues)

He doesn't resemble Lincoln(Lincoln has dark brown/black hair etc.) and he doesn't resemble George Washington too.(G. Washington has curly-like hair)
And I know he's not the notorious and infamous modern President of War : George War Bush.

Just who is Uncle Sam? Brad L. Jones?! Err no no...sorry.

Well the key is that Uncle Sam's initials are US. He is a fictional character who symbolizes the US government(Big Brother?). Sort of like John Bull for England. Supposedly there was some guy long ago who was used as the prototype for uncle sam but on the whole it is just a slangy way of referring to the US government.

They could have as easily used Elvis.

A dubious explanation of the origin of Uncle Sam:

Nah, WFranc! If I'm 24, I would probably be speaking like Irona.
If I'm 30, I would probably be speaking like Tom Frohman's old brother.
If I'm 40++, I would be speaking like Brad.

Nah! Brad is only around 38 - 42 years old!
And oh. I can't believe Tom is 44??!!!
I thought Tom is just a man who just graduated from university and is having a young wife?!!

Just graduated? It hasn't been that long.

I finished my Ph.D. in 1999. I finished undergraduate in 1982. I worked many years then quit and went back to school.

Young wife? Well my lady is 49. I guess that is pretty young

Oh Tom, your wife is still young, and I am also sure that she will be happy and get younger when she lives with you. Because you are also the guy who can make people laugh from time to time, you know that !
Is it true that people will become much younger if they just try to keep smiling and.....maybe laughing all the time ? I think it is.!!!
So when we meet in this forum, we laugh to be younger

Do you have any references for this?

This does not sync with the explanation given at most websites of the origin of uncle sam in the first half of the 1800's.

see the two links given above
