Visual Component Manager
I've never used this tool (VCM). Now I need to start. My books say that it's installed by default with VS as add-in. I have VS on 2 my computers. I installed it from MSDN VS disks (Enterprise Edition), but there is no VCM on both computers. I found VCM folder on one of installation CD, but there is no setup file. When I'm trying to run VS setup it gives me the only ability to install some Server Components and there is no VCM among them. I don't want to uninstall VS and install again. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Re: Visual Component Manager
I have VCM on my Add-In menu.
I'm pretty sure that I simply selected this as an option during VS Setup.
You shouldn't have to uninstall VS, just install the required component via "add/remove component".

Re: Visual Component Manager
It's very strange. When I run setup.exe file by double clicking on it in explorer it gives me the screen with options to install Server Components. When I run setup through Control Panel, it gives me all choices for add/remove, including VCM.
Thank you, Lothar. You gave a great idea. I made hundreds of installations in my life, but could not imagine that there can be a difference between behaviour of setup depending on how you started it.
Thank you again.

Re: Visual Component Manager
Strange things continue to happen: I installed VCM via Control Panel Add/Remove program on one computer. But the second computer gives the same screen with InstallShield option only when I'm using either method - double click Setup or via add/remove in Control Panel.
