    well u said the end..but the main question that the thread was originally started for remains unanswered!!!!


    i cant download eclipse cause its no longer available to download...
    so any other light IDE's for developing java????

    What ? that can't be right, what site did you look at ?, the eclips download page has a ton of mirrors, I just had quick look at the US and Swedish mirror they both seem fine.

    Getting back on topic ... the Java IDE that I recommend is NetBeans.

    When downloading the JDK from Sun, they offer the option of downloading the JDK bundled together with NetBeans. That's a pretty strong endorsement.

    Everyone thinks their own baby is the most beautiful, Sun is no different. It's not surprising they endorse NetBeans, they've sponsored it since the beta release (see A Brief History of NetBeans) - as far as they're concerned, it's their baby.

    Most IDE's have evaluation downloads. The best strategy is to try as many as you can, giving each at least a few days (preferably longer) to make an impression and allow time for you to become familiar with the features. This way you can program for months with the best IDEs for nothing and find out what suits you best. Everyone is different - whatever you choose, it's worth remembering that you may only think your current IDE is good because you haven't tried a better one...

    The bitterness of poor quality lingers long after the sweetness of meeting schedules is forgotten...
