Can anybody tell me which search engine is the best and why? I am looking for search engines which can support multiple type documents like HTML, PDF, Word etc.,

there are a lot of search engines available
most popular are altavista, yahoo , netscape ...
to name a very few. searching depends on the topic that ur interested in.

There are plenty of engines to choose from on the web like Alta Vista, Yahoo, Lycos etc. plus a few desi ones like jadoo. In my opinion HotBot(www.hotbot.com), WebCrawler(www.webcrawler.com) and Lycos(www.lycos.com) are right up there, though from among these I usually use Lycos.

this is one of the best search i have ever seen.
