who can help a newbie?
Hi!
I have a problem with my report...I want to get the total amount per product line and divide it to the total quantity which is also per product line to get the average...I know how to get the sum in design time (right click on field...insert...summary) but i need it in formula and by group....
To sum it all up...can someone give me a nice formula to sum per group? I'm a beginner in crystal reports and I hope you experts can help!
Thanks a lot!
P.S.
If you have a better approach in solving my problem I'm most willingly like to learn from you. Thanks!

When you click the summary icon there are several check boxes toward the bottom of the dialog box. one is show as percentage and the others are insert to group and insert grand total. check the appropriate box.

I know how to do this...but can I use this field in a formula? I mean can I call on this summary field for another formula that I will create? Cause my new formula will be:
sum of arlinh.amount/sum of arlinh.qty
*these summations are per productID group
If I follow your instructions, can I come up with this formula? Is there a formula to get a group? Thanks and hope you'd answer back!

thanks for replying harmonycitra!
That's good news for me...I'm really quite new to crystal reports so if it's not too much to ask, can you show me how? Cause what I only know is in the formula editor, one can double click on report fields and database fields that you want to include in your formula.
Hope I could hear from you soon cause it feels good knowing that there are good and helpful people like you who's ready to help a newbie like me! thanks a lot!
